Engine repair without the parts cannon
Engine repair and replacement done in our own Green Bay bays. We find the cause first, so you pay for the fix and not for the guesses.
Chapter 01
What a failing engine tells you before it quits
Engines rarely fail without warning. A misfire shakes the car at a stoplight, an oil leak leaves a dark patch on the driveway, a knock under load says something inside is wearing, and a check engine light that clears and then returns means the fault is still there. Overheating is the one to take most seriously, because a few minutes of heat can warp a head or ruin a gasket.
The expensive habit is the parts cannon: guess at a part, swap it, see if the symptom goes away, then guess again. Every wrong guess is money spent on a car that still runs badly. A misfire can come from a plug, a coil, an injector or a mechanical fault, and all of them feel alike from the driver's seat. That is why we want the cause before the invoice.

Scan, listen, inspect, then decide
When you bring an engine problem to 1644 Main St, we start with the car, not with a part number. We scan for codes, listen to the engine run, and inspect what we can reach. The codes point toward a system. The hands-on checks prove which part in that system is actually at fault. You get a detailed quote once that assessment is complete, and no work starts before then.
If the answer is a repair, we repair it. If the engine itself has to be replaced, that happens in our own bays too. Nothing is farmed out to another garage, so the person who found the fault is the person working on your car. One Green Bay customer, Leanna Love, wrote in a Google review that the mechanic here is “like a Doctor for your car.” That is the standard.
Chapter 03
After the repair, the first weeks matter
A repaired or replaced engine deserves gentle early miles. Vary your speed, skip hard towing and flat-out acceleration for the first stretch, and check the oil level more often than usual until it holds steady. Some fresh engines use a little oil while parts seat in, and the dipstick tells you whether that is normal or a leak that needs another look.
Come back early if the old symptom returns, if a new warning light appears, or if you spot fresh oil or coolant under the car. Small signs caught in the first week are cheap to chase. Call (920) 217-5911 and tell us what you noticed, when it happens and whether the engine is warm or cold, and we will get the car back into the bay.

Engine diagnosis chart
How an engine complaint gets read
Shaking at idle, a light that flashes
Codes point at one cylinder. Plug, coil, injector and compression each get tested, not swapped.
Replace the part that fails its test, and only that part.
A knock that gets louder under load
Listened to while running, then inspected. Where the noise lives separates a loose accessory from internal wear.
Repair the accessory, or quote the engine replacement after the assessment.
Temperature climbing, oil or coolant on the ground
The leak is traced to its source before any gasket or hose is touched, and heat damage is checked for.
Fix the leak, refill, and recheck once the engine has run.
If the temperature gauge is the complaint, the cooling system usually gets checked first. If a light is on and nobody can say why, a full auto diagnostic comes before any engine work is quoted.
